The 2022 Tooth & Nail Red Blend is a deliciously unconventional cuvée of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo and Petite Sirah. Generous aromas of boysenberry, black plum and vanilla cream reveal hints of coffee and savory spice. The mouthfeel is plump and luscious with ripe flavors of cherry, juicy plum, black currant, cola and cedar. Earthy notes bring dimension to a plush, supple finish. A quintessential Paso Robles red blend: complex, delicious and highly drinkable. 

The 2022 growing season was marked by dry weather with warm conditions heading into harvest, prompting rapid fruit maturity and ripe varietal flavors. The grapes for this blend were grown over an extended period from September 1 through October 19.

Director of Winemaking Jeremy Leffert and his team fermented the fruit in a combination of 10-ton stainless steel tanks, four-ton concrete fermenters and large oak tanks.

After six to nine days of warm extraction, the new wine was pressed off the skins and into stainless steel tanks to finish fermentation, a maneuver designed to maintain a pure tannin profile while avoiding any uptake of phenolic astringency. At the conclusion of fermentation, the individual lots were aged in French oak barrels (15% new oak) for 12 months prior to blending and bottling. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
