The 2022 Primitivo is electric out of the glass with profuse aromas of raspberry, wildberry, sage, tarragon, sandalwood and cracked pepper. The palate is fresh, rounded and massive with mouthfilling flavors of blue fruits, blackberry jam, vanilla cream, orange rind and spice. The densely layered fruit gains minerally lift on a smooth, silky finish. A deliciously heady taste of Italy’s answer to Zinfandel.
The 2022 Primitivo comes from Parvaneh Vineyard in the Creston District AVA of Paso Robles. Here, well-drained soils, warm afternoons and reliable marine cooling from the Templeton Gap combine to create a deliciously expressive Primitivo. The fruit was hand harvested in the cool morning hours and cold soaked for 48 hours, then fermented in stainless steel tanks for eight days.
Toward the end of fermentation, the must was gently pressed and the juice was returned to stainless steel to finish out fermentation—a process designed to avoid excessive extraction from the skins.
The wine was barreled down to 15 percent new French oak barriques, where it aged on the fine lees without racking to preserve vitality and freshness. After eight months of maturation, the barrels were blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Stasis
Stasis wines focus on coastal expressions of both renowned and obscure grape varieties. They pay homage to the Stasis Theory, a truth-seeking discipline first practiced by the great philosophers and orators of ancient Greece. Between the physical and metaphysical, there is Stasis — a balanced state of being.
